The Witcher 3’s Carefully Placed Wildlife in Each Area

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is going to feature an absolute world of wonders that will have every corner filled with rich content. A primary focus of the designers for this game was not only its vast storyline and deep characters, but also its wildlife and beautiful landscapes.

Speaking with Examiner recently, CD Projekt RED’s Jonas Mattsson provided more insight about how the wildlife in the game will respond to terrain. Every area in the game is home to at least one kind of creature.

“Different monsters prefer different areas,” he said. Each creature has also been programmed with a unique temperament and behavioral patterns. That means, you will come across bears who will move up stream to catch fish, wolves guarding their territories from other packs, herds of deers moving along to other areas for better grazing, dangerous creatures hiding in caves and more.

Mattsson also confirmed that creatures won’t scale up with your level. The game will force players into treading carefully into new areas since the enemies they engage there might be too difficult for them at that time.

“You have to be careful with the weather because when it is stormy you really do not want to go out onto open water. It will be difficult to navigate and so on. There are harpies that try to attack you and shred your sails,” Mattsson said.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is due for release on May 19 for the PS4, Xbox One and PC.
