The Witcher 3 Features Reactive Economy, Alive Environment and Improved Alchemy

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is expected to release in Q2 and in the meanwhile, CD Projekt Red is letting us amuse ourselves with some gameplay demonstration.

To start off, the game is humongous; 35 times larger than The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings.

Moreover, it will be more understanding towards your needs as well as more natural towards the environment. Firstly, the potions system will not wear off after a given time like before. In fact, you choose when to release the effects of the potion you took before a fight:

The potions will work in a different way than in The Witcher 2. So now you will prepare them, you will drink them before a fight, but you can release the effect of those whenever you want. So it’s not like you’ve drunk the potion and you have 30 seconds of boost and then it wears off.

You can start the fight in the moment it suits you, and if the fight proves hard, you can just release the effect through your metabolism. But if the fight is easy, you can preserve that and use it in the next fight.

As far as the environment of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is concerned, it will be more alive and organic. For instance, the behavior of people around you will be affected by the weather. You will see them running for shelter in rains and cooking fires or other sources of warmth in dead cold winters.

Another example of that would be the merchants who would charge more for fish if the market is located far from the sea. They will also run off to the sea to catch more fish when they run out of stock.

We haven’t been told when The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will be released except for a speculation in the second quarter of 2014, but whenever it does, it will bring forth 100 hours of gameplay divided equally into side quests and the main quests.

Would that be enough for you?
