The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine Shaelmaar Boss

The first thing you will notice after jumping down into the arena is that Palmerin will be with you. You will notice his separate HP bar. However, you do not need to worry about him getting killed during the battle. Even if his HP bar is totally depleted, he will get back near the end of the fight.

As mentioned earlier, Blood and Wine Shaelmaar hits hard and easily blocks regular attacks. However, if you Aard him, he will get knocked back and you will be able to hit him with 1-2 regular attacks. If you are equipped with Light Armor, you should be able to spam Quen, get in to land a couple of hits, get back to use Quen again, and repeat the process.

Moreover, check your inventory for some Relic Oil or Samum Bombs which will help you immensely during the battle. Shaelmaar has some well telegraphed attacks which can be avoided without much difficulty.

Once you see him rolling, you need to get away and let him get to you. During this time, you need to wait for the attack to finish after which you will be able to land in a few of your attacks.

Once you have depleted almost 2/3 of his HP bar, he will start spinning rapidly and digging into the ground. During this time, he will toss rocks at you which you need to avoid. Furthermore, if you stay close to the boss while he is spinning, he will deal massive amount of damage to you. Just stick to the strategy provided above and you will do fine.

Once defeated, you will be greeted with the Duchess Anna Henrietta who will reward you with the deed and key of Corvo Bianco Vineyard – the place where you defeated Bruxa.
