The Outer Worlds Crashes, Graphics, Visual Bugs, Controller Issues and Their Fixes

Obsidian Entertainment’s The Outer Worlds has received descent reviews and people are calling it “Fallout in space without bugs”. Yes, the game is quite stable if we compare it with other RPGs, especially the fallout series.

The Outer Worlds Launch Errors, Issues and Fixes

Although the game has fewer bugs, there have been reports about a few technical problems including some errors, crashes and performance issues in The Outer Worlds. Ofcourse, not all of these issues are Obsidian’s fault and can be related to configuration issues. So if you have been facing any technical issue related to the Outer Worlds, our following troubleshooting guide can prove useful to you.

The Outer Worlds Won’t Save on Easy Difficulty

Many users have reported that their is game is not saved if they are playing on easy difficulty. As it turns out, the game does have a “save bug” on easy difficulty and Obsidian has already taken notice of this issue and should be resolved in the upcoming update.

Meanwhile, you can change your difficulty and if you don’t want to do that, patience is the only option for now.

Visual Bug That Messes Terrain in The Outer Worlds

This is another known bug for The Outer Worlds and Obsidian is looking into it. As a temporary workaround (if you can’t wait), you should increase the FOV to maximum. This will reduce the weird terrain visual bug. Keep in mind that it won’t fix it but the things will be better.

Controller Not Recognized Issue

There is a great chance that your Xbox One/PS4 controller might not work with The Outer Worlds. If you are facing this issue, there is a fix you can try for now. Make sure that Steam isn’t running in the background as it somehow conflicts with the configuration file and renders the controller unresponsive. If that doesn’t work for you, you can also try DS4 (for PS4) for windows to make it work.

The Outer Worlds Can’t be Installed, Not NTFS

This problem is also in the list of known issues and Obsidian is working on a proper fix. Meanwhile, make sure that your operating system is up to date and there are no pending windows updates. Some users have reported that installing all the windows updates have resolved different issues for them.

Crash Entering the Ship [Spoiler Alert]

If your games is crashing as soon as you enter the ship, there is a workaround you can try that might work for you. You need to go to Edge Water and and Talk to Reed and then come back. This time, hopefully, you will be able to enter the ship without crash.

The Outer Worlds Random Crashes

These random crashes could be caused by background applications apart from The Outer Worlds. So if you are experiencing such crashes, try to exit all applications in the background specially Steam. It has been reported to cause configuration issues with the game.

Windowed Full Screen Resolution Issue

If you are trying to run the game in Windowed Fullscreen, chances are that you may not be able to hit 4k as game settings won’t allow you to. That’s a known bug too and hopefully, will be fixed soon.

Outer Worlds Microsoft Store ERROR 0x80073CF3

Alright, this one is a big issue. I faced it during Gears 5 too. Now if you are getting this error while trying to install or launch the game from Mcirosoft Store, the first suggestion is that you try Xbox Beta app for PC.

If that doesn’t help, you should make sure that there are no pending Windows updates. Still no luck? Well, as a last resort, you can try resetting Microsoft Store app. This should definitely fix the issue.

As a final resort, you can try changing your windows region to US. It can be changed back to local region later but if you change the region, it may start your game.

The Outer Worlds Crashes With Black Screen

If you are facing this issue, try to download and install latest windows 10 media feature pack. It seems to have fixed the issue for some users, specially related to black screen.
