The Lich King and His Dog Arrive for Hearthstone’s Next Expansion

Knights of the Frozen Throne, the next expansion pack for Hearthstone, will not only feature the Lich King as a playable minion but also his dog, Arfus.

Knights of the Frozen Throne, the next expansion pack for Hearthstone, will not only feature the Lich King as a playable minion but also his dog, Arfus.

Both belong to the legendary category and summon a set of token cards that cannot be added to a deck or hand otherwise. The set, which consists of seven spells and the cursed Frostmourne, is exclusive to the Lich King and Arfus. They are referred to as Death Knight cards but take note that they do not include Death Knight heroes. Nonetheless, the exclusive batch of token cards feature incredible high value against their respective mana costs.

The Lich King

Class: Neutral
Rarity: Legendary
Type: Minion
Mana: Eight
Attack: Eight
Health: Eight
Taunt: At the end of your turn, add a random Death Knight card to your hand.

Arfus

Class: Neutral
Rarity: Legendary
Type: Minion
Sub-Type: Beast
Mana: Four
Attack: Two
Health: Two
Deathrattle: Add a random Death Knight card to the hand.

Coming to the token cards, below are the possible summons that the player could have based on random probabilities. “Anti-Magic Shell” looks particularly interesting. Provided that the board is full, buffing friendly minions and ensuring that they cannot be targeted by spells or the enemy hero could prove overwhelming. There is also “Army of the Dead” which has the potential to summon five minions from the deck. As for Frostmourne, the living shall be raised to serve the Lich King.

The theme of the new expansion pack for Hearthstone explores the possibility of Arthas, the Lich King, successfully defeating all the heroes of Warcraft at Icecrown Citadel and raising them to do his bidding with the malicious powers of Frostmourne.

Knights of the Frozen Throne will feature 135 new cards. The Blizzard Shop is still taking pre-orders. For $49.99, you will receive 50 card packs of the new expansion. In addition, owners will get access to the “soul-devouring” Frostmourne card back. There is still time to secure an early purchase before the content goes live later this week.
