The Division 2 Raid Matchmaking Has Arrived But Not As Rewarding

When the Division 2 came out, players hated not being able to matchmake for raids. Ubisoft defended this point, leading us to not expect this feature but The Division 2 however, is finally getting Raid Matchmaking.

This means you no longer have to assemble a full team for access to the raid. After all, the raid was a part of the game’s purchase. Being cheated out of it for not having a full group at the right time is unfair. That’s why Raid matchmaking got added.

This is what Ubisoft had to say about the raid matchmaking implementation:

“The new Discovery Difficulty, along with its corresponding matchmaking option. This will allow more players to experience The Division 2 in its entirety. Operation Dark Hours Exotic loot remains exclusive to the Normal difficulty. Agents playing the Discovery Difficulty can expect a variety of great rewards. They can also train for Normal Difficulty.”

This wasn’t a silent issue either, as Ubisoft was involved as well. They were trying to clarify why grouping up is so necessary. Communication and teamwork summarize the defense.

The Division 2 Raids need a lot of teamwork and coordination. Mostly voice chatting. That’s far more doable in a pre-made group instead of matching up with randoms.

As I said before, Ubisoft didn’t want to cheat players out of their ability to play raids. A consensus had to be reached that made players want to group up, but also made the raid accessible.

This was done by lowering the difficulty and value of rewards you can get by matchmaking. The mode you play in during The Division 2 Raid Matchmaking is called discovery mode.

Discovery mode doesn’t have the same high tier loot as regular raids. That’s because the difficulty is heavily lowered. Ubisoft believes it’s necessary since randoms can’t coordinate as well.

What discovery mode does allow is for players to experience raids. This wasn’t possible before unless they had a full 8 man party. Now, you can enter a random raid group on your own. As the name suggests, Discovery also allows you to explore the raid itself.

This can help you formulate strategies for later. Furthermore, if you really like the group you meet in matchmaking, add them. Then you all can group up and go into the proper raid together.

The Division 2 raid matchmaking is now available for the Operation Dark hours raid. An original 8 man raid released back in May that involves liberating the Washington airport.
