Super Smash Bros Ultimate Toon Link Guide – How to Play, Moves List, Counters

Toon Link is one of the most recognized characters in Super Smash Bros. series. He was last a part of the series in Super Smash Bros. 4 and makes a return to the game like almost every character in the series in Super Smash Bros Ultimate. Our Super Smash Bros Ultimate Toon Link Guide will take you through all of the changes that have come about in the move sets as well as the alternate costumes that are available.

Super Smash Bros Ultimate Toon Link

Toon Link is not a great character, but he is not a bad character either. Toon Link can be quite fun to play, but there is nothing particular that he is great at. Toon Link has average speed regardless of whether he is on ground or air, and carries Medium weight with him.

Let’s go ahead and take a look at how you can unlock Toon Link, what his moves do, and which alternate costumes does he have.

How to Unlock Toon Link

Toon Link is unlocked the same way that all of the other characters in the game are unlocked. There are a total of 3 ways for you to play as Toon Link. The first one is to go through the World of Light method, the second one is to go through the Classic Mode method, and the third one is to take on the Challenger Approaches fights.

In case you do not get the correct Challenger Approaches fight, you can restart the game and join a custom ruleset match with a time limit of 1 minute. Once that match has been played, you will see that there is a brand new fight waiting for you in the main menu.

Move Sets

Your standard smash is the Hero’s Bow and can be performed when you press the B button. This attack fires an arrow that can be charged up for more damage as well as range. Your side smash is called the Boomerang that throws a boomerang dealing damage both when it goes out and when it comes back. You can throw this weapon both at the side as well as diagonally.

Your Up Smash is known as the Spin Attack in which you spin with the sword and deal damage to opponent. You can hit an opponent multiple times and charge your attacks in order to increase their damage. Your Down Smash is known as the bomb which will explode either after a few seconds or when it collides with something else in the arena.

Your Final Smash is called Triforce Slash and is performed by pressing B when your FS meter is full. In your Final Smash, you charge ahead and strike your enemies repeatedly to launch them. Remember that it is important to land your first attack during this smash or it may end up failing miserably.

Alternate Costumes

7 of the 8 costumes that you will have access to are quite similar and almost exactly what you would expect from Super Smash Bros. There is nothing different apart from the color schemes and you are able to select from default, dark green, light blue, blue, red, purple, and brown.

What is really fun is to use the Dark Toon Link that has a white face and white hair but is completely clad in black. His red eyes seem to betray evil and using the Dark Toon Link seems much more fun than using the standard one if you like to play like the devil.
