Super Smash Bros Ultimate Simon Guide – How to Play, Moves List, Counters

This Super Smash Bros Ultimate Simon Guide makes up a part of our series of detailed character guides for Super Smash Bros Ultimate. In our Super Smash Bros Ultimate Simon Guide, we talk about what changes have been brought on board for the character including the animations, moves and counter picks.

Super Smash Bros Ultimate Simon

The titular character from the Castlevania series makes his first appearance in the Super Smash Bros series. Simon excels at controlling the space in the neutral game with his far-reaching smash attacks thanks to his Vampire Killer whip. Apart from the range of these whips, these attacks also carry great knockback.

The downside to these moves, however, is that they are slow to initiate, so an opponent can make the read and punish accordingly. These are not only the slow moves as Simon also has a considerable start-up when it comes to his smash and grab attacks.

Simon can also unleash devastating projectiles that come in the form of an ax, holy water, and a cross. Then there is the signature ‘mini float’ towards the end of his jumps that allows him to be airborne for longer. Simon shares his move-set and general play-style with his Echo Fighter, Ritcher, though there are minor differences here and there. To practice with the character, you will first need to unlock him.

Unlocking Simon

The first method of unlocking the character involves playing the World of Light mode. Here, Simon will join your team, as you get closer to encountering the final boss in the World of Light region.

In the Classic Mode, you will have to clear it with Ice Climbers or King K Rool to unlock Simon. Lastly, simply plaything through the versus mode multiple times will get you the character. The last two methods rely on you successfully defeating Simon on Dracula’s Castle.
