Nintendo has announced that its newly released title, Super Smash Bros. for Wii U has managed to create a new record by becoming the fastest selling Wii U game of all time in US.
It managed to sell more than 490,000 copies both digital and physical combined in just three days i.e. November 21 to November 23.
Since the series launch almost six years ago, it has been sold over 14 million units in US alone. Nintendo America’s executive vice president of sales and marketing, Scott Moffitt seemed pretty thrilled about this achievement and the future.
The Nintendo holiday is off to a great start, but there’s a lot of work left to do and a few more surprises in store for our fans.
With great deals coming on Black Friday and Cyber Monday and great content like Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker launching next week, Nintendo will offer shoppers the best combination of fun and value this holiday season.
I don’t think anyone would be surprised about the sales figure considering Super Smash Bros has been on the wish list of almost every Wii U owner since its announcement.
Currently, the Super Smash Bros Wii U version is only available in North America. European consumers will get it this Friday, while Japanese fans will have to wait till December 6.
