The first night of Gamescom later this month is going to be quite exciting, if what Geoff Keighley posted on his Twitter is to be believed. According to the post, more than 15 different studios at Gamescom 2019 will be revealing new content and announcements that will be coming out in the future.
Gamescom is one of the biggest gaming events of the year short of E3, so it’s no surprise that many studios would want to use it to unveil new games that weren’t quite ready for E3. And, with all of the studios that apparently have games to show us, it could be quite interesting.
Studios at Gamescom 2019 that will be showing off new games include 2K, Activision, Bandai-Namco Entertainment, Bungie, Capcom, EA, Epic Games, Google Stadia, Deep Silver, Sega, Square Enix, Sony, THQ Nordic, Ubisoft, and Xbox Game Studios.
With some of these different studios, we can likely anticipate what we’ll be seeing from each studio, i.e. Bungie showing off Destiny 2’s upcoming Shadowkeep expansion, since it was announced to be delayed only a few days ago.
Of course, it may not all be news about various updates; some of the studios and publishers that will be coming to Gamescom might actually have some new games to talk about, or have release dates for games that have gone without them.
For instance, THQ Nordic may give us more information on their action RPG game Biomutant, which hasn’t had any major news in over a year. However, the multiple games they announced before E3 might also get some focus, such as the Destroy All Humans and Spongebob Squarepants: Battle for Bikini Bottom remakes.
But whatever we end up seeing from the studios at Gamescom 2019, hopefully the entire convention will be a great experience. Gamescom begins on Monday, August 19, and is located (as always) in Germany.
