How to Fish
To start, you need to equip a rod and stand right next to water. Once done, press and hold LMB after which you will notice a bar filling from red to green color. This basically determines where your bobber will land – green represents the farther side and red represents close to player.
After this point, you need to wait for an exclamation point and then press the LMB again in order to hook a fish – you will be notified if you managed to get a fish. At this point, you need to click and hold the LMB in order to move the green brick up.
You can also release LMB in order to drop it. You basically need to keep the fish inside the brick so as to raise the catch meter as soon as possible. Once the meter is completely filled, you will get the fish.
Gold Star Fish and Legendary Fish Locations
There are various locations in the game which will net you Legendary Fish and Gold Star Fish:
Location #1
You need to head to the north side from the Wizard’s Tower and onto the southern edge.
Location #2
You need to head to the southern edge of the second island inside the Mines Lake.
Location #3
You need to head to the westernmost pier; directly under the rock.
Location #4
On the right-hand-side of Jodi’s house.

Fishing Equipment
Crab Pot and Uses
Crab Pot is a craftable item which can also be bought from Willy by spending 1, 500. Once acquired, you will be able to catch Cockle, Crab, Crayfish, Mussel, Oyster, Periwinkle, Shrimp, and Snail which are found in freshwater and ocean.
How to Acquire the First Fishing Rod
After getting letter from Willy, you need to head to the docks by the beach where you will acquire the Bamboo Rod.
Significance of Ripples
You will often notice ripples in the water which often signify rare fish. Whether you are just passing by or out on fishing, do not forget to toss in the bobber as soon as you notice the ripples to test your luck!
Rod Upgrades and Attachments
After progressing a little through the game, you will no longer be able to use the bait and must upgrade your rod in order use the bait. In order to upgrade to Fiberglass Rod, you will need 1800 and in order to upgrade to Iridium Rod, you will need 7500.
Once you have successfully upgraded to Iridium Rod, you will be able to use attachments in order to make catching fish a whole lot easier. Do note that these require recipes which are acquire as you level up fishing skill:
Barbed Hook
Makes your catch more secure, causing the “fishing bar” to cling to your catch. Works best on slow, weak fish.
Recipe: Copper Bar x1 + Iron Bar x1 + Gold Bar x1
Cork Bobber
Slightly increases the size of your “fishing bar.”
Recipe: Wood x 10 + Hardwood x 5 + Slime x 10
Dressed Spinner
The metal tab and colorful streamers create an enticing spectacle for fish. Increases the bite-rate when fishing.
Recipe: Iron Bar x 2 + Cloth x 1
Lead Bobber
Adds weight to your “fishing bar,” preventing it from bouncing along the bottom.
Recipe: N/A
Magnet
Increases the chance of finding treasures when fishing. However, fish aren’t crazy about the taste.

Spinner
Recipe: Iron Bar x 2
Trap Bobber
Causes fish to escape slower when you aren’t reeling them in.
Recipe: Copper Bar x 1
Treasure Hunter
Fish don’t escape while collecting treasures. Also slightly increases the chance to find treasures.
