Speed and Customization At the Heart of Upcoming Xbox One Update

A new Xbox One update is being tested by Microsoft Insider’s ring, called “Microsoft Fluent Design”. This future update appears to have a solid improvement over the current one. MS is focusing on navigation speed, convenient user interface, customizable options. They also removed splash screens that occurs while gamers switch from sections like social, my games, home.

Microsoft’s Corporate V.P for Xbox Platform Engineering, Mike Ybarra told in a preview that they’ve heard fan feedbacks and worked on re-engineering the whole interface. It’s a completely new design built specifically according to the input given by the fans. Highlighting all the issues that users currently face from the interface. This new update will give the users more choice and delivers fun faster.

It’s a modern way of looking at the activity feed, you can see what game developers are pushing in on, what your friends are doing by just hitting the bumpers to switch tabs. It’s definitely faster and more user-friendly.

MS is making the experience more dynamic with its Fluent Design philosophy. Users can pin things like favorite friends, alongside games and apps. Pinned games will get relevant activity feeds as well such as when a friend is playing a particular title. Switching tabs from games, getting the news feeds, monitoring updates from your friends is now possible.

There have also been changes to the windows 10 user interface, that makes it possible to enable or disable “Game Mode” through a switch on the game bar. The bar also gives users greater options for the Mixer. For people who like to play the game with minimum distractions, they can just keep the interface as minimum as just a home button and games list. So it’s like there’s something for everyone.

MS plans to reveal more features in the coming months and the update will be released later this year for Xbox One, Windows 10, Mixer and mobile devices.
