Sony has Postponed the End Of Production for PS Vita Games, Reports

Finally, some hope for PS Vita lovers of physical games as it’s being reported that Sony has postponed the date to end the production of physical games. Previously it was told that Sony will cease production of the physical games by the end of the current fiscal year ending March 31, 2019.

This information comes from a software company. There’s no official word from Sony yet so do take it all with a grain of salt. PS Vita is also scheduled to be discounted in Japan next year so we will have to see if anything changes.

PS Vita has been here for 7 years and it’s one of the most loved portable consoles especially in Japan. Also, there’s no successor planned yet according to the senior vice president of Sony Interactive Entertainment, Hiroyuki Oda.

Hiroyuki Oda says:

Currently, we do not have any plans regarding a new handheld device, in Japan, we will manufacture PlayStation Vita until 2019. From there, shipping will end.

Everyone was expecting to see a Nintendo Switch competitor but we think there’s going to be none for some time.

PS Vita was a very good platform to play games on and for indie developers. It launched with great titles like Uncharted Golden Abyss which surprised everyone but slowly the console died. Sony stopped supporting it and after some time it rarely got any new games except for Japanese titles.

PS Vita did come with some great features to use. I personally have one and I love it. It allows you to play PS4 games on the go with remote play. You can even play Spiderman on it if you want and the screen is not bad at all. It brings PS Trophies to you no matter where you are and also allows you to voice chat with your friends over PSN without any hassle.

Sony is doing great currently with PS4 and it has managed to bring some of the best selling games ever including Spiderman and God Of War in 2018. With this amount of success, we hope that Sony decides to make a comeback in the future maybe with a PS Vita 2? Well, we will have to wait to find it out.
