Sony has officially confirmed a price cut for its PlayStation TV, but only for the UK. The device, which launched in Europe in November last year for £84.99, can now be purchased for £44.99.

“Starting from the 27th March, PS TV will offer even greater value for money when it becomes available for only £44.99,” a Sony spokesperson told Dealspwn.com. “Now with an even more accessible price, you can benefit from the advanced features and technology that PS TV brings to your home entertainment experience.”

The PlayStation TV device hooks up to your television set in order to stream gameplay from your PlayStation 4 console. In addition, it can also access the PlayStation Store and PlayStation Now to play PS Vita, PSP, and PSOne classics.

The device is catered to players wanting freedom to play their games anywhere in their households. Using the device, they can simply stream their games to another TV in the house (if the primary one is occupied) and resume play there.

The price cut is welcomed and not surprising. Many considered it too expensive when it launched last year. In January this year, major retailers in the US were already selling the device for $80, $20 short of its official $100 price listing.
