There’s something huge coming from Sega and it’s all about Sonic the Hedgehog. The company teased fans with a short but sweet video on Twitter, letting us know that there’s a new Sonic game coming and it’s a racing one.
The video is up on Sonic the Hedgehog Twitter page and shows black and white footage of car close-ups while engines starting are what you hear. After that, a logo starts showing and the only thing that you can see in the shadows is an R. So what we know so far? Sonic, R logo, and cars.
Could this be Sonic And Sega All-Stars Racing? That looks likely even though Sega hinted that this title is not a reboot. However, a couple months ago there were reports hinting at a new Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing title, with slides reportedly hailing from an internal presentation at Sumo appearing on Resetera.
The company has already revealed during last year’s earnings call that aims to revive its dormant IPs, in addition to expanding the existing ones and acquiring new IPs for North American and European PC games. This might be one of those steps, however, Sega didn’t about reworks, more like reviving IPs through different moves. According to the company, it plans to “continue to create moving experiences” with a vision to be the game changer. The company plans to reach at least 300 billion yen in yearly sales and 30 billion yen in operating income.
Until then, Sega hasn’t revealed any big plans or upcoming titles. However, Yakuza 6 is their next title on the radar, releasing in the West on April 17th. Not only this SEGA has also announced a premium After Hours version. This collector’s edition will cost $89.99 and will include a slew of content like an art book, bar glasses and more.
