Saints Row 5 Details Coming Next Year, “Going To Be Great”

Saints Row 5 is currently “deep in development” at Volition, an announcement made a few months back that understandingly turned a lot of heads. The last time the franchise received a core installment was nearly six years ago — obviously forgetting the disappointing Agents of Mayhem that was a desperate attempt at milking the same bizarre and pop culture-referencing universe.

However, Saints Row 5 exists for the public in name alone. There have been no details shared, neither platforms nor release dates, neither settings nor features. The silence suggests that development has not really reached a point where Volition can start doing reveals. Thankfully, parent company Koch Media has confirmed that the developer will start talking fairly soon.

Speaking with GamesIndustry in a recent interview, CEO Klemens Kundratitz assured that Saints Row 5 is in good hands. Volition, after all, worked on the past installments as well. The developer knows fully well the importance that the franchise carries and hence, will do its best to deliver a solid entry.

According to Koch Media, the first batch of details will be dropped sometime next year. For the time being, the parent company wants to make it clear that Saints Row 5 is going to be a “great” installment.

Saints Row is very close to our hearts, and we’ll talk about it next year. For the time being, we just wanted to get the word out that it’s coming and it’s going to be great.

The statement pretty much confirms that Saints Row 5 is eying a release on next-generation consoles, meaning also that a release even in late 2020 is not in the books. Volition is likely to keep talking about Saints Row 5 throughout the year before launching the installment somewhere in 2021.

Those who have been waiting all these years to see the gang again are likely to be disappointed but there’s a silver lining to be found. There’s a promise that like Grand Theft Auto 5, Saints Row 5 will be a massive jump in terms of visual and technological marvel. If anything, Koch Media has offered another assurance that nothing will distract Volition from creating one of the best installments in the franchise to date.
