Healing items are hard to come by in Resident Evil 7 Biohazard which is why it is important that you understand when to heal and when to save. It is important to understand that everyone starts with the same amount of HP, regardless of the game’s difficulty settings.
Moreover, with the sole exception of Madhouse Mode, players continue to recover a small amount of HP if they manage to avoid getting hit again. This HP reservation is faster on Easy Mode and a tad slower on Normal Mode.

Healing Items in Resident Evil 7
Green Herbs
These can be used directly in order to recover about 1/4th of your total HP. However, it is important to note that in order to use a Green Herb, you must do so manually from the inventory.
Lastly, if you wish to do so, you can also save Green Herbs in order to craft a more powerful healing solution that does not require you to manually open up the inventory every time you need to heal.
First Aid Medicine
This is the healing solution which you should use during your playthrough of the game. The healing solution replenishes around 1/3rd of your HP and can be used automatically without having to open up the inventory. In order to craft the First Aid Medicine, you need to have a Green Herb and a Chem Fluid.
Strong First Aid Medicine
The Strong First Aid Medicine is much potent than the regular First Aid Medicine in the sense that it completely replenishes player’s HP. Due to this reason, you should save them for the most critical moments and mostly rely on regular First Aid Medicine most of the times.
Steroid Upgrades
These items basically increase the total amount of HP that the player has. However, if a player is low on HP and uses the item, it will not only increase the player’s total HP but will also replenish it completely.
Due to this, you should avoid using them right away – especially if you are already in full health – and save them for critical moments.
