When Capcom announced Resident Evil 7, many were skeptical as last couple of games weren’t exactly Resident Evil type. However, as we got to know more about the game, it was confirmed that Resident Evil 7 is going back to its roots and will deliver a similar experience that fans have come to admire in the franchise.

The game will be available on PC along with other platforms and as far as PC version is concerned, it’s not a bad one. Performance wise, the game works great and most of you are expected to have a smooth experience.

However, it’s a PC game so yes, there are going to be issues due to the diversity of this platform. So if you are facing any Resident Evil 7 errors or any other issues, feel free to browse through the following issues and their possible fixes/workarounds.

Resident Evil 7 Errors, Crashes, Bugs and Their Fixes

#1 Resident Evil 7 Crashes – Api-ms-win-crt-runtime-l1-1-0.dll is Missing
If your game crashes just after you start it with the given error message then you should try re-installing c++ library for windows. The updates are recommended for both Windows 7 and 8.

If that doesn’t work, you should try installing the redistributables found in Resident Evil 7 directory. That should fix the issue for you.

#2 Resident Evil 7 Error – MFplat.dll and/or MFreadweite.dll or Missing
The error is similar to #1 however, you need to download a free media feature pack to make this work. You can download the free pack from here. If you are not using Windows 10 then you should find this pack for you own version of Windows. All of them are free.

#3 Resident Evil 7 Asynchronous Sound Issue
If you are using a built-in sound card then chances are that you might face some sound related issues. If you are facing something like that, you should try updating your sound card drivers.

#4 Resident Evil 7 Crashes After Intro Video
If your game is crashing at the start where intro videos end, then you most probably have the hardware that doesn’t support SSE4.2. It’s becoming a common issue these days for the newer games. However, there might be a patch coming soon. In the meanwhile, either you can upgrade your hardware or wait for the patch to come out.

#5 Resident Evil 7 Not Loading Issue for Laptop Users
If you are trying to run the game on a laptop then make sure that your machine is plugged in while you game. Also, you should install the redistributables for Resident Evil 7 game folder. It goes without saying that your gaming should be running using the dedicated GPU and not the integrated one.

As the error implies, if your GPU doesn’t support directx 11 minimum then you might not be able to run the game. However, there are a couple of workarounds you could try to run the game.

#7 Resident Evil 7 Mouse/Keyboard Issue
If you have a controller plugged in, either disable it or try to unplug it. This should fix the detection issues.

#8 Resident Evil 7 Performance Issues
Overall, the game works fine on PC (not sure of Windows 10 version) however, if you are facing any issues, make sure that you update your GPU drivers. Sometimes, background applications also hamper performance so try to disable them if there are any. Laptop users should make sure that they are running the game using the dedicated GPU.

Also, if you have Shadow Cache enabled in settings, disable as it might fix the FPS fluctuations.

#9 Resident Evil 7 Black Screen Issue
If you are getting a black screen when you start the game, you should try out the following:

  • Try running the game in windowed mode.
  • Make sure that your screen’s resolution/refresh rate is same as that of in-game.
  • If game is running in a higher resolution than supported by your monitor, it will show a black screen.

#10 Resident Evil 7 Download Issues
If your download is stuck at 99%, try changing the region for your download via Steam. It should resolve the Issue. Don’t forget to restart Steam after that.

#11 Resident Evil 7 Textures Issue
If your game is struggling to load the textures properly, it might be related to your limited VRAM as shadow cache option in game’s settings might fill up your limited video memory. Solution? Disable the option and the anomalies will be reduced.
