Red Dead Redemption 2 Goes Beyond “Story and Side Missions”

Red Dead Redemption 2 will go beyond story and side missions. Developers have a range of different systems planned for the player.

Red Dead Redemption 2 developer claims they look beyond traditional story and side missions. Speaking with the official Xbox Magazine, Rockstar North’s Imran Sarwar that the studio prefers to create a range of different experiences for players access and move out of.

We tried to think beyond story missions and side missions to simply create a huge range of experiences for the player to move in and out of as naturally as possible. The world is packed with things to do, and the best way to find them is to explore and interact with the people you meet. Talking to people in town or in camp will often reveal new activities for the player to get involved in, and you never know what kind of experience that might be.

They are not only going beyond story and side missions but they are making this the most detailed Red Dead game to date. Character customization, as well as real-time facial hair animations, are going to be a part of Red Dead Redemption 2. And who can forget the shrinking horse testicles?

Even random engagement with NPC is handled by a new engagement system. You can engage with any NPC you wish to and be presented with various options on how to engage. You can freely kill them, of course, and have a bounty placed on your head which turned into its own activity. Police will run you out of town but you can pay your bounty or spend time in jail.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is releasing on October 26 for PS4 (PS4 Pro bundle was announced earlier) and Xbox One. PC version is rumored to be in development but Rockstar Games has denied its existence. But interestingly, even other developers are requesting a PC version at this point.
