Ubisoft Banning Players Who Exploit Chat In Rainbow Six Siege Starting Today

Ubisoft said in a Reddit post, “Beginning tomorrow, we will initiate a ban wave” in accordance with the Rainbow Six Siege's Code of Conduct.

In a post made onto Rainbow Six’s Subreddit, Ubisoft Community Developer, Its_Epi detailed the Chat Symbol Exploit Ban Wave.

There was a massive bug in Rainbow Six Siege which allowed players to force a match to quit by spamming certain symbols in the chat. In order to combat this exploit, Ubisoft has decided to initiate a strict ban wave. “Beginning tomorrow, we will initiate a ban wave” in accordance with the game’s Code of Conduct, said Ubisoft.

According to the post, there are certain things that players are forbidden to do in Rainbow Six Siege. Ubisoft has since added two more clauses to the Forbidden Conduct section in the game’s conduct.

FORBIDDEN CONDUCT:

  • The following actions violate the Code of Conduct and can lead to disciplinary action in accordance with the Disciplinary Policy outlined below.
  • Any conduct which interrupts the general flow of Gameplay in the Game client, forum, or any other Ubisoft medium.

Ubisoft also talked about the bans by saying that these bans will only be targeting those players who have abused Rainbow Six Siege’s chat symbol exploit in order to crash matches. In addition to this, Ubisoft has also said that these bans will have varying lengths, depending on the frequency and severity of the exploit’s usage.

Furthermore, this strong step from Ubisoft is their “next step towards sanctioning players that knowingly and deliberately take advantage of exploits to the detriment of the overall match.”

Unfortunately for Ubisoft, this isn’t the first time players have managed to find a way to exploit Rainbow Six Siege’s gameplay mechanics. There were also certain players who managed to abuse IQ and Clash in the game and that too happened due to a bug in the game.

So far, this recent update made by Ubisoft in Rainbow Six Siege is being received with mixed emotions. There are some who consider this to be a bold step by Ubisoft to enforce fair play. On the other hand, we also have those who think that this is simply a weak step. They think that this kind of bug shouldn’t even exist in the first place. There are potentially hundreds of games out there that have chat features and they don’t crash whenever someone spans a certain symbol. This bug exists due to the game’s code and the simplest way to fix this would be to amend the code.

In any case, since Ubisoft has just announced this Chat Symbol Exploit Ban Wave in Rainbow Six Siege, it will take some time for us to see if it works or not.

It is likely Rainbow Six Siege might even receive cross-play support down the line as Ubisoft has talked about it in the past.

With the upcoming release of next-gen consoles like PlayStation 5 and Xbox Scarlett, it is equally as likely Rainbow Six Siege might get a next-gen release. All we can do right now is wait and see how it turns out for Ubisoft’s Rainbow Six Siege.

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege is currently available on Sony’s PlayStation 4, Microsoft’s Xbox One and PC.
