Just like all the previous generations, Pokemon Sword and Shield will feature some differences that will slightly transform the experience on either of the two versions.
These differences are not very huge and are limited to only a few features exclusive of each version while the storyline remains consistent for both. For instance, there are Pokemon exclusive to each one of the two versions along with a few locations and characters.

Pokemon Sword and Shield Version Differences
These are obviously the most prominent difference in the two versions as has always been with the previous versions as well. Both Legendary Pokemons in this generation are four-legged lion creatures.
The Sword’s Legendary Pokemon is Zacian. It has a lean structure and holds and sword in its mouth.
The Shield’s Legendary Pokemon is Zamazenta. It has a more prominent structure while showing off a shield-shaped mane.
Apart from the Legendary Pokemon, there are other version exclusive Pokemons as well that you’ll only be able to catch in their respective versions. These are as follows;

Gym Leaders
Although the specifics about the gyms are not fairly clear yet, it is quite apparent that the gym leaders aren’t the same for the two versions. For the first time, the two versions have exclusive gym leaders with different base types as well.
Alister is the Ghost-type gym leader that’ll fight you in Shield while Bea is your Fighting-type gym leader in Sword.
