Niantic’s Pokemon Go has already become a phenomenon in regions it has released in. Amassing over 15 million unique players within the first week of its release, players continue to discover secrets that the game beholds, the latest addition of which is related to Pokemon Go Eevee evolution.
We have yet to see someone stumble upon a Legendary Pokemon or a Dark-Type Pokemon, but there have been some findings on how to control Pokemon Go Eevee evolution. After much speculations, it appears like Eevee evolution is tied to an Easter Egg referencing to original anime.

Pokemon Go Eevee Evolution Trick
In the original anime, the Eevee brothers were named Rainer, Pyro, and Sparky and they owned a Vaporeon, Flareon, and Jolteon respectively. By simply knowing which brother corresponds to what Eevee form, you can easily control Pokemon Go Eevee evolution – as simple as that!
How to Control Pokemon Go Eevee Evolution
The first thing that you need to do is to open up the menu and select the Eevee that you wish to evolve. Once you are decided upon one, you need to tap the edit button next to Eevee’s name and change it in accordance to what you desire.
- Sparky for Jolteon
- Rainer for Vaporeon
- Pyro for Flareon
It is very important that you keep the capitalization in mind, otherwise, it will not work!
Once you have renamed the Eevee, you should close the game and then open it up again. There are a few people reporting that the game does not save their edit because of server issues which is why it is a good idea to go with this workaround.
Now that you are done with name edit and everything, you simply need to hit evolve and your Pokemon Go Eevee will evolve into your desired one.
