PlayStation 4 has Sold Well Over 25 Million Units Worldwide

Sony has revealed that PlayStation 4 has sold well over 25 million units worldwide. With a focus on the PS4 and PS VR, has PlayStation Vita been forgotten?

We all know by now that the PlayStation 4 has been a success, and continues to be one. Sony appear to be very happy with just how much of a success and how many of the consoles they’ve managed to sell around the world.

In an interview with Gamesindustry.biz Sony’s Michael Denny at the Paris Games Week revealed that the console has sold over 25 million consoles:

“I don’t think there’s a better time to buy into PlayStation – PS4 particularly. Our installed base now is well over 25 million. That gives us a massive community of gamers, supported by a lot of new community features. We’ve got great games out there, more coming through. We’re looking forward to 2016, it’s an exciting time.”

On the PlayStation Vita which hasn’t really been talked about (yet) at the event, he revealed:

“PlayStation Vita is still a fantastic handheld gaming device, and I think the people who have it still continue to use it and talk about it. There’s a great catalogue of AAA games out there for Vita already and there’s going to be new indie and creative titles coming through for Vita as well. Plus, with remote play, there’s still a place for Vita in the PlayStation ecosystem.”

So PlayStation 4 is performing well, while the Vita is getting lost in the chaos with no real focus. With the coming of PlayStation VR too it seems the future for Sony at least may not be in handheld gaming.
