PopCap Games has just announced that Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare will release for both the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 on August 19 in North America, August 21 in Europe and August 22 in the UK.

The developer’s multiplayer tower defense shooter set in the Plants vs Zombies universe was originally released for the Xbox 360 and and Xbox One in February and took this long to arrive on Sony’s platforms.

According to the announcement, the PlayStation release will include the two DLC packs that have so far released for the game – Garden Variety and Zomboss Down.

It has also been confirmed that the PlayStation 4 version will run at native 1080p and 60fps, as well as supporting Vita Remote Play and split screen co-op.

The PS App can also be used to experience Boss Mode where one player overlooks the battlefield from a bird’s-eye view to call out tactical orders.

Pre-orders are now open and come with two game-boosting digital card packs. Early buyers will also get PlayStation character-themed customization items for their plants and zombies that include Hat Packs themed around Ratchet and Clank, Sly Copper and Fat Princess.

PopCap Games will be showcasing Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare for the PS3 and PS4 at the Sony booth at E3 2014 next month.

All that’s left is the PC version, which is set to arrive on June 24.

Last week we got treated to a short video showcasing gameplay from the PC version that confirmed that the game would feature dynamic control schemes and come with both DLC packs as well.
