Phil Spencer Confirms Final Fantasy XIV On Xbox One

After the presentation of Inside Xbox at X019, Xbox Game Pass users can not be happier, as several surprises related to the Microsoft service were revealed. Although Final Fantasy fans will receive a lot of games from the main line, they couldn’t help thinking about the great absences: Final Fantasy XIV and Final Fantasy XI.

However, it does not mean that they will not reach the Xbox Game Pass, at least in the case of the first, because everything indicates that it will also be available, just a bit later. Although not mentioned in the event, Final Fantasy XIV is on its way to Microsoft.

This according to the head of Xbox, who declared that they are working with the producer and director of the game Naoki Yoshida, of Square Enix, so that the hitherto exclusive PlayStation 4 and PC arrives on Xbox One at a date after the arrival of all other titles. Phil Spencer made the following statement to The Verge.

I wanted you to know, rest assured that we will bring that game to Xbox. We have a great relationship with Yoshida-san and we’re working through what it means to bring [to Xbox] a cross-platform MMO that they’ve run for years.

As you can see, it is not specified under which model this game will work on Xbox One, taking into account that a subscription to Square Enix is necessary to take advantage of the online environment. However, it is expected that it will also arrive on the Xbox Game Pass if we consider that all other games will be in service. We will be able to see later.

With Final Fantasy XIV, the executive surely refers to Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, a reissue that gave new strength to the failed original delivery. This case is curious, because the first release did reach Xbox 360, but A Realm Reborn only debuted on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and PC.

That said, Xbox One users couldn’t enjoy the Heavensward, Stormblood and Shadowbringers expansions. Unfortunately, there was no information around Final Fantasy XI. In other news, Final Fantasy VII is one of the most important games in history, beyond the controversy that it generates among fans of the franchise because it marked a before and after for it.

22 years after its debut the game continues to reap success thanks to which has remained current with releases on different platforms. Recently, the renowned Square Enix RPG returned to talk about a new goal in terms of sales. Through a statement via Gamingbolt, the Square Enix division in Japan revealed that Final Fantasy VII has already sold 12.3 million copies.

These sales are since its launch in 1997, which was released on PlayStation. The new sales figure of the RPG was achieved thanks to the fact that it has not stopped launching on different platforms, including digital versions and its recent debut with a remastering on current consoles.

Precisely, all these releases are counted to determine the number of sales of Final Fantasy VII as a single delivery, so the debut of Final Fantasy VII Remake will not enter into this data and will be accounted for separately.
