Among a number of other things that Pokemon Go has done is reiterate how augmented reality really has an impressive potential in the video gaming market. Millions upon millions of people are playing the game and many are even getting new ideas, like a similar Harry Potter AR game!
If you have read about the boy who lived, you’d already have your mind full of different things that could be done in an augmented reality game that brings elements from the wizarding world to us muggles.
Interested? There is a petition that is being signed by thousands of people right now so that Nintendo and Niantic can be told how the fans are serious about this. The petition, after praising the game, says “you know what would be even better? HARRY POTTER IN REAL LIFE.”

Some of the ideas being floated for the Harry Potter AR game in the petition include the quest to catch all those magical creatures, and (wait for it…) casting spells!
In honor of the new movie, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, you could search for magical creatures, like hippogriffs, and dragons, and goblins, and acromantulas. Follow the spiders Ron. The app could be a fantastic (pun intended) promotion for the movie.
You could cast spells against wizards, duel with them, disarm them (disable the app temporarily?) with Expelliarmus spell, and “search for the seven Horcruxes, and then for swords, and basilisk fangs to destroy them.”
Honestly, it would be a really impressive idea to get a Pokemon Go themed Harry Potter AR game, however, making this a reality is a completely different thing.
