Nintendo Switch Storage Can be Expanded to 2TB via SD Cards, USB Support Confirmed

Nintendo Switch has been confirmed to support microSDXC cards up to 2TB and external USB support via the console’s dock ports.

According to a recent report, Nintendo’s upcoming hybrid-console Nintendo Switch will support external USB drives.

During the console’s presentation, Nintendo confirmed that the console will launch with 32GB on built-in storage with the ability to expand via microSDXC cards.

At the console’s London event, it was confirmed that Switch will support microSDXC cards up to 2TB. Moreover, the console will support external USB drives, connected to the console’s dock ports.

The feature, however, will not be available at launch and is promised to be rolled out later down the road. This is definitely good for users who are looking forward to buying the console and will serve them in the long run.

Another good news that Nintendo shared during its conference is that the upcoming hybrid-console will be completely region-free. This will allow users to import software from other territories and is something which is not possible on both Nintendo Wii U and Nintendo 3DS.

Apart from that, the confirmation marks Switch as the first console developed by Nintendo which is completely region-free.

The console’s major launch titles include The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, though, I’m looking forward to playing classic NeoGeo titles such as The King of Fighters ’98, Metal Slug 3, etc. which have been confirmed to release on Switch by the Hamster Corporation.

During the company’s recent presentation, it finally revealed the console’s launch date. Nintendo Switch is planned to release on Mar. 03 in the US, Hong Kong, Japan, major European countries, and other territories for $299.99.
