Epic Games: 20 Unreal Engine 4 Games In Development For Nintendo Switch

Nintendo Switch launched over two months ago and has been proven very successful for Nintendo thanks to its first-party and third-party support. However, the third party support for the hybrid console has not been phenomenal but, seems that it is going to change soon as according to Epic Games, there are 20 Unreal Engine 4 games in development for Nintendo Switch.

Speaking with Automaton, Epic Games Japan representative Takayuki Kawasaki revealed that that are 20 games based on Unreal Engine 4 in development for Nintendo Switch. However, these games are in development in Japan.

Unfortunately, there were not any Unreal Engine titles at launch, but in late March, Snake Pass, which was one of the titles playable at GDC, launched in America and Europe, and at the Nintendo Switch Presentation, there were titles such as Shin Megami Tensei,” Kawasaki said. “In Japan, there are about 20 titles being developed that use Unreal Engine, so I think that they’ll be announced gradually from here on.

However, this does not come as a surprise since Unreal Engine 4 is officially supported for Switch by Epic Games. However, since these games are in development in Japan it is still unclear if these games would be released in the Western market. We will know once they are revealed.

In related news, Nintendo has revealed that it expects Switch to top 100 million sales of Wii. However, that is not the only thing Nintendo expects of Switch as the company has revealed that each household will have more than one Switch because one will not be enough.

However, Switch might be able to achieve over 100 million units, as according to the console’s demographics, Switch’s install base is n a US household is pretty much the same as that of PS4 and Xbox One.

While, Switch has just launched over two months ago, but according to a report from Citigroup, despite Nintendo Switch being a hybrid console, it is still quite large for children and this could result in Nintendo releasing a Switch mini in FY2018.
