MSI B450 Tomahawk And B450-A Pro Motherboards For AMD Ryzen Revealed

Recently it was revealed that ASRock is working on B450 motherboards for AMD Ryzen CPUs and now MSI has not only confirmed but also revealed its MSI B450 Tomahawk And B450-A Pro motherboards for the AMD Ryzen CPUs and APUs.

Given that these motherboards support the AMD Ryzen CPU and APUs it is obvious that these MSI B450 Tomahawk And B450-A Pro motherboards are based on the AM4 chipset.

However, no release date has been announced for the B450 motherboards and if the rumors and leaks are to be believed then the company will be revealing these motherboards in the 3rd quarter of 2018 along with remaining entry-level Ryzen CPUs and APUs.

Speaking of the Ryzen, the company’s CEO has noted that with the help of Ryzen CPUs and APUs it will grab 20% of CPU market share by the end of 2018 and this will increase to 40% in next few years.

Not only that, AMD has confirmed its 7nm+ Zen CPUs and Next-Gen GPUs for 2020 launch. According to AMD, the design for 7nm Zen 2 is complete and it improves over Zen architecture in “multiple dimensions” which might indicate that 7nm Zen 2 will be available in 2019 as the slide states that Zen 3 will be out in 2020.

However, AMD Zen 5 will be based on 3 nm process instead of on 5 nm as GlobalFoundries plans to skip the latter one altogether. If you are interested in checking out all the announcements made at Computex 2018 then be sure to click here.

According to CEO of GlobalFoundries Tom Caulfield, he doesn’t think that 5 nm is going to be enough for the company to invest in it and 3 nm process will be required to get “full performance”. However, he didn’t confirm that the company will indeed skip the 5 nm in favor of 3 nm process.
