We’ve all had a slip of the tongue during an emotional moment. Denying that is just straight up lying, and voice actors aren’t immune to that trait. That was the case here when Lalo Garza, a Spanish voice actor, went to Twitter for a rant regarding how disposable he was. Amidst the rant, he mentioned how both of his characters were removed from Mortal Kombat XI. Bidding farewell to Kung Lao and Reptile.

Now this gives us several different messages. Some worrisome and others exciting. So we’ll start with the silver lining of this otherwise rather negative tweet.
Mortal Kombat XI! Yes! Another addition to the legendary fighting game franchise of MK. Mortal Kombat 9 and X were huge step ups from what Netherrealm had been putting out in the past decade.
With the success of the last two, hopes for Mortal Kombat 11 are indeed high. But all we currently know is from what a voice actor said in a venting tweet. So where else can we piece together information from?
Well, maybe the patterns that Netherrealm studio follows for starters. After the release of Mortal Kombat XL, Before that was Injustice in 2013, the DC fighting game. After MKX, Injustice 2 was released in 2017.
There’s a two year pattern between each release, and if we’re to believe that it stays consistent, we could be looking at Mortal Kombat XI for 2019. Which is next year.
To reinforce the theory, let’s also add how the company alternates between a Mortal Kombat game and a DC game. First was MK vs DC. Then Mortal Kombat 9, followed by Injustice, MKX and finally Injustice 2. If Mortal Kombat XI isn’t next, I’ll be a monkey’s uncle.
But right, let’s give some attention to the other topics of this tweet as well, which was of Mr. Garza being let go. Yes, the Spanish voice actor for Reptile and Kung Lao has been removed. Now did his farewell mean a personal goodbye to the two characters? Or a removal from the actual game itself.
Both interpretations of the wording suck honestly. For the people that familiarized themselves with the Spanish characters, it might be hard getting used to whoever replaces him. A change in cast can always go both ways.
On the other hand, could we see Reptile and Lao removed from Mortal Kombat XI? I hope not! We already lost Baraka, Jade, Skarlet, Noob and several others. I really don’t want my invisible lizard and buzzsaw hat monk gone too!
