Monster Rancher Official Twitter Established: Start Of A New Era?

A new Monster Rancher official Twitter has been established, hinting at the start of a new era for the 17-year-old franchise that hasn't had a game in years

A Monster Rancher official Twitter has apparently been freshly established today. We have no idea of what this means for the franchise as a whole, but there’s a possibility that this will end up leading to a revival of the franchise with new Monster Rancher games coming to consoles.

The Monster Rancher franchise is one of the many “Mon” franchises that came up in the wake of Pokemon, with its first game releasing in 1997 on the Playstation. Like the Pokemon games, Monster Rancher focused around the player character raising various kinds of monsters to make them stronger and winning tournaments. While there were battles, those were only in tournaments that you could enter from time to time, rather than an end-game goal, and there were also no gyms.

The games were eventually popular enough to gain an anime of their own, an original show taking place in the Monster Rancher world as a young boy named Genki and his friends went on a journey to defeat the evil monster Moo (or rather, in Japanese, “Mu”, which means “nothingness”).

Players instead stayed on a farm for the most part, breeding their monsters from disks and training them, along with from time to time going into town to buy items. The games proved to be very successful all the way up to the most recent entry in the series, Monster Rancher DS, but that came out all the way back in 2008 (or 2010 in the West), and since then we haven’t seen anything.

The only new Monster Rancher stuff that’s come out since then have mainly been mobile games. The Monster Rancher official Twitter being started, however, might be hinting that the games will begin to come out again.

Of course, that’s not confirmed yet. But, if you want to make sure of it yourself, all you have to do is get on Twitter and follow the Monster Hunter official Twitter so that you can keep an eye out for any news that comes in the future.
