Mike Pondsmith Will Appear In Cyberpunk 2077, Probably As A Character

The creator of the original Cyberpunk 2020 board game has confirmed his appearance in Cyberpunk 2077. Mike Pondsmith has had a big hand in the development of Cyberpunk 2077. Now we know that we can also expect to see him in the actual game itself soon enough.

This was confirmed in an interview of Mike Pondsmith conducted by Xbox Magazine. Within the interview, he stated that he will be appearing in the game.

Pondsmith added that he didn’t know what role he was up for initially. Just that he recorded lines and parts which then got changed up. He also added that he couldn’t tell us much else due to being spoiler material.

As a joke, he added that we can expect to see him anywhere. Even if it’s as a supporting Bass player for Johnny Silverhand’s sick guitar skills.

It’s nice to see him included in his creative vision. We already know that Cyberpunk 2077 won’t hold back on fan service and characters. All of them are a part of the lore, however. Is Pondsmith actually playing one of his characters?

I feel like this is more of a video game version of Stan Lee cameos. The creator making an easter egg appearance in his own game. He might be part of a fun little side quest instead of the main story. Either way, a manhunt for Mike Pondsmith in Cyberpunk 2077 is definitely going to be underway.

Cyberpunk 2077 plans to immerse a lot of real world themes in the game as we already know. Perhaps we can expect some meta jokes and references as well? In that sense, I wouldn’t be surprised if Mike Pondsmith is literally some sort of Godly entity in the game. Being a creator of sorts. Maybe he’s in a funky after credits scene even. The possibilities are endless.

I’m just glad he’s occupied with some role work instead of just having to deal with outrage culture. Cyberpunk 2077 release next year in May.
