With Mega Man 11 coming to consoles later this year, we’ll have the opportunity to relive the old times with our childhood hero through two new retro collections on Nintendo’s hybrid console. As Capcom announced, Mega Man Legacy Collection 1 and 2 will get released on Nintendo Switch on May 22. The collection was revealed by the company last year but now everything is set in stone. Let’s take a look at the details.

Nintendo Switch has proven to be a console that stays true to classic retro games with more titles ported as the time goes by. Mega Man Legacy Collections bring all Mega Man older titles to two separate bundles:

  • Mega Man Legacy Collection: Includes the first 6 Mega Man games as well as concept art, box design, soundtrack and a challenge section.
  • Mega Man Legacy Collection 2: Includes Mega Man games 7 to 10, art music and more challenges for each title.

Capcom also announced that the Mega Man Legacy Collection will have Amiibo support on Nintendo Switch, bringing new content to regular and golden Mega Man amiibo owners:

“If you have a regular or golden Mega Man amiibo, you’ll also gain access to eleven additional fan-made challenges [in Mega Man Legacy Collection] previously exclusive to the Nintendo 3DS version of the game and now making their console debut on Nintendo Switch,”

On Nintendo Switch eShop, Mega Man Legacy Collection will cost $14.99, while Mega Man Legacy Collection 2 will cost $19.99. The physical copy, however, is priced at $39.99 and includes the first collection on the game card, with a download code for Collection 2.

The release of the Mega Man Collection has been leaked earlier last week when a listing from the Australian classification board revealed ratings for two Mega Man games, Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1 and Mega Man X Legacy Collection 2.

In related news, Mega Man 11 will come to PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch in late 2018, with no stated release date. Mega Man 11 will bring with it a new visual style alongside the much hoped for classic arcade style gameplay.
