Shell Cup Course in Mario Kart 8 features four retro-tracks from previous Nintendo games: Wii Moo Moo Meadows, GBA Mario Circuit, DS Cheep Cheep Beach, and N64 Toad’s Turnpike.
In addition to various graphical improvements, all of these tracks have been revamped with new sections and there are some sections which have been eliminated.
Mario Kart 8 Shell Cup
In this guide, I’ll be talking about each shortcut, corner-cut, locations of Antigravity Strips, and where to find different sets of item boxes.
Wii Moo Moo Meadows
Keep on going straight and you’ll stumble upon your first set of item boxes. After this section, you’ll come across some fields with wandering cows which can be cut from the left side using a Mushroom.
The shortcut will lead you straight to the second set of item boxes followed by a Gliding Ramp. This Gliding Ramp will take you to an open area which can be cut near the Monty Moles using a Mushroom to reach the finish line.
GBA Mario Circuit
After a couple of turns, you’ll end up on a Boost Ramp with the first set of item boxes and Antigravity Section. Perform a trick at the ramp and reach the ground, ending the Antigravity Section.
Just as the Antigravity Section ends, you’ll come across second set of item boxes after a couple of turns. Right next to these item boxes, you’ll see a Gliding Ramp to your right with a couple of item boxes. However, you’ll need a Mushroom to reach this area.
Beware of the Oil Spills as they will spin your kart out! After the Oil Spills section, you’ll have to take a sharp left turn, but you’ll also be able to take a small right path containing a Boost Pad to save a bit of time.
Important: Although I haven’t mentioned it above, but you’ll be able to cut almost every turn by boosting over the grass using a Mushroom.
DS Cheep Cheep Beach
Follow the track to the right side where the first set of item boxes will be awaiting you. After landing on the beach, turn right and you’ll come across second set of item boxes followed by a Boost Ramp.
After this section, jump into water, but only if you’ve a Mushroom since there will be an offroad area in underwater.
After the lighthouse area, you’ll again have the option of diving into water or stay on beach. Either way, you’ll always end up at the third set of item boxes. When inside the jungle, there will be an offroad area towards your left side before the finish line.
N64 Toad’s Turnpike
In this race track, the item boxes will always be in motion along with other traffic. Just as the track begins, you’ll come across an Antigravity Section towards your right.
Just keep the Antigravity Section go and don’t force stop it and you’ll end up on a straight long road with another Antigravity Section towards your left. This Antigravity Section will end right at the threshold of the finish line.
Oncoming traffic will sometimes force you to avoid the Antigravity Strips which make this track quite frustrating. Therefore, make sure to avoid the cars at all times!
