March NPD Statistics: PS4 Outdoes Xbox One, Hardline Tops Bloodborne

The march NPD sales reveal that Battlefield Hardline sold the most (above Bloodborne) while PlayStation 4 beat Xbox One.

The March NPD statistics are out, and despite showing a slower month in terms of software as well as hardware sales, they bring interesting developments.

As expected, Sony’s PlayStation 4 has beaten Microsoft’s Xbox One in terms of hardware sales. Sadly, NPD March statistics did not come with specific figures and so far neither company has shared the number of consoles they sold.

On this occasion, a PS4 representative said that they were “honored,” and thanked the gamers:

We are truly honored PlayStation 4 is the top-selling console and No. 1 in software sales again according to NPD sales data for March 2015. PS4 remains the cumulative sales leader both globally and in the United States and we want to thank gamers worldwide for their ongoing support.

Microsoft on the other hand revealed that the sales of Xbox One were greater than what Xbox 360 was selling at the same time in its product life cycle.

As far as game sales are concerned, March NPD results have revealed that despite being the number on seller on PS4, Bloodborne couldn’t beat Battlefield Hardline in terms of sales.

Liam Callahan revealed that despite coming at number two Bloodborne “has the second-highest sales for the debut month of a first-party game on the PS4, after Infamous: Second Son, in March 2014.”

Here are the top 10 selling games for the month:

  • Battlefield: Hardline (Xbox One, PlayStation 4, 360, PS3, PC)
  • Bloodborne (PS4)
  • Grand Theft Auto V (Xbox One, PS4, 360, PS3)
  • Mario Party 10 (Wii U) (sold 290,000 copies physical and digital, according to Nintendo)
  • Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare (PS4, Xbox One, 360, PS3, PC)
  • MLB 15: The Show (PS4, PS3)
  • Minecraft (360, PS3, Xbox One, PS4)
  • NBA 2K15 (PS4, Xbox One, 360, PS3, PC)
  • Borderlands: The Handsome Collection (PS4, Xbox One)
  • Final Fantasy: Type 0 HD (PS4, Xbox One)
