Lots of Content Coming From New Studios For Project Scarlett: Microsoft

There is more than enough content in development for Project Xbox Scarlett, according to Aaron Greenberg of Microsoft Studios.

Project Scarlett won’t suffer from the same issues as Xbox One. Microsoft’s current-gen console had a lack of quality AAA games but the quality wasn’t the only issue, quantity caused problems as well.

But things will be different with Xbox Scarlett thanks to the efforts made by Xbox Head Phil Spencer. Microsoft has acquired a ton of studio for a stronger first-party line-up for Project Scarlett so there is a lot in development right now.

Speaking with OXM (Official Xbox Magazine), Aaron Greenberg who is the General Manager of Games Marketing at Xbox, discussed the amazing levels of creativity and innovation coming from new studios.

He was “pleasantly surprised” to know how much content is in development for Project Scarlett.

You can expect more new games. You can expect sequels. You can expect new IP. You can expect things you’ve never thought of. That’s the fun part of it.

Ninja Theory, when we met with them, were like ‘Hey, we had this project in development before you guys acquired us, this multiplayer character shooter-brawler [Bleeding Edge]’. Wow, we didn’t expect that. Tameem Antoniades, who worked on Hellblade, his team is off working on something else and we haven’t talked about that yet. At Obsidian, there’s the team working on The Outer Worlds, a team that’s working on Pillars, and a team working on another secret thing.

And inXile: there’s the Wasteland 3 team, and there’s a team working on another thing. We don’t have just new IP – what we’ve done is taken a collection of some of the greatest creative minds in the industry and given them freedom and the resources to go do what they want to create. And then we really let them do that independently. We support them every way we can, and then we have them come back with those creations when they’re ready and work out the right time to show them.

The next-generation of consoles aren’t just about hardware power. Microsoft is creating multiple platforms to form a definitive Xbox experience. At the helm, we have Project Scarlett, new studios, Xbox Game Pass, and Project xCloud streaming.

Xbox Scarlett is releasing next holiday season. The marketing campaign will kick start next summer around E3 2020. The price and proper spec sheet are yet to be shared but 4K/60FPS is pretty much a given at this point.
