Would you rather be Wolverine, Spiderman, or the Incredible Hulk? Don’t worry, LEGO Marvel Super Heroes has plenty to choose from. The latest Lego title developed by TT Games features about 150 characters, including the villains.
The game follows its predecessors in terms of gameplay mechanics and has a stage-based gameplay. Each stage offers plenty of badass enemies and fatal bosses.
After the completion of each stage, new characters are unlocked.
Just like it seems, if you plan on unlocking all the playable characters, you will have to go through all the levels. But still, below you will find a list of characters and how they are unlocked; so that you know what you will be getting after each stage.
Lego Marvel Super Heroes Characters Unlock
Iron Man, Spiderman, Hulk, Sandman, and ROXXON Guard
These characters are unlocked by completing the first stage of the game which is at Sand Central Station. Completing this level will also get you 20G Achievement/Trophy.
Black Cat
You will find Black Cat in the east village to the left and below Taking Liberties mission icon. Once there, use Spider Man to pull the two handles and then use his spider sense inside to reveal the switch. Pulling the switch will reveal the character token to the right in the black box. Take the token and purchase her for 150,000 studs.
Captain America, Mister Fantastic, Doctor Octopus, and HERBIE
Times Square Off which is the second stage of the game unlocks the above mentioned characters upon completion along with unlocking 20G worth Achievement/Trophy.
Doctor Octopus will also be your last boss fight during this stage.
Doctor Octopus Ultimate
You will find ultimate during the Tabloid Tidy Up bonus hub mission but note that you can only unlock the character in free play.
Black Widow, Hawkeye, Symbiote Scientist, and Venom
Taking down Venom and Green Goblin in Exploratory Lab which is the third stage of the game will unlock the above mentioned characters.
Kraven
You can find the hunter in Central Park, next to the giant Godzilla looking icon. Shoot the five targets to unlock the token which will then allow you to buy him for 150,000 studs.
Electro
Completing the bonus hub mission, A Shocking Withdrawal to unlock Electro. Once you have completed the mission, you need to buy him for 150,000 studs.
Vulture
You can unlock him by completing Nuff Said bonus hub mission. After completing the mission you can purchase him for 150,000 studs.
Mysterio
You can unlock him after completing the Thrill of the Chess bonus hub mission. After completing the mission you can purchase him for 150,000 studs. To play the Thrill of the Chess bonus hub mission, you are required to have 175 Gold Bricks.
Tony Stark, Wolverine, Abomination, and Sabretooth
Bring Justice to Abomination, Sabretooth, and Magneto during stage 4 to unlock the characters above.
Iron Man (Mark I), Iron Man (Mark 42), Tony Stark, Aldrich Killian, and Mandarin
The fifth stage of the game puts your heroes against Mandarin and Aldrich Killain which you need to complete in order to unlock the characters mentioned above.
Heartbreaker, Mark 7
You can unlock both by completing House Party Protocol mission. After completing the mission, you can purchase them for 150,000 studs each.
Human Torch, Red Skull, and Armin Zola
Complete the sixth stage of the game to unlock these characters.
Thor, Destroyer, and Frost Giant
You need to complete stage seventh which features Loki and Destroyer to unlock the characters mentioned above.
Jean Grey, Cyclops, Storm, Beast, Iceman, Juggernaut, and Pyro
The eighth stage takes place in the X-mansion where your heroes will have a face-off with Juggernaut and Pyro. Complete the stage to unlock the mentioned characters.
Ant-Man
You will find him just north of Feeling Fisky bonus hub mission.
Beetle
You can find him one block east of the central park lake.
Black Panther
Complete the three missions to unlock him; One block south of Feeling Fisky, The docks directly to the west of the first one, Just south of the bridge on the east coast.
Howard the Duck
Unlock upon completion of Nuff Said bonus hub mission in Story Mode.
Gamora
Complete the story to unlock the missions you need to unlock her. In the Times Square Area, one block up from the level 15 story mission icon ‘Galactus’, you will receive a mission from Drax. After completing that mission you will unlock Gamora. After unlocking her, you can purchase her for 150,000 studs.
Drax
After completing the first mission from Drax, he will give you another mission just north of the previous mission location. After you complete the second mission, there will be a third one which you will be assigned on the roof of Marvel HQ building in Chinatown.
After completing that mission you will unlock Drax and can purchase him for 150,000 studs.
Groot
You are required to complete the story mode before you can unlock Groot. Complete three missions he assigns you to unlock him. First mission can be found just above the lake in cetral park, the flower car icon. The second mission can be found just south-west of the Daily Bugle in the park, Mandarin’s Boat icon. Third mission can be found at the entrance to the X-Mansion.
Complete all three to unlock him and after that you can purchase him for 150,000 studs.
Rocket Raccoon
Complete three missions to unlock him; Garbage truck icon northwest of Central Park, just east of the Feeling Fisky Bonus HUB Mission, 3-4 blocks south of the bridge on the east coast.
Star Lord
You are required to complete the story mode before you can unlock Star Lord. Complete three missions he assigns you to unlock him. First mission can be found at the garbage truck icon two blocks north of the north-west corner of the top of central park.
Second mission can be found one block north and half a block to the west from the road that runs through Central Park. Complete all three to unlock him and after that you can purchase him for 150,000 studs.
Ronan the Accuser
You will find Ronan in Central Park to the right of the circus tents. To unlock him you need to find hidden path behind the statue south of his icon. Once you are there, charge the three switches and box will open to give you character token. After unlocking him you can purchase him for 150,000 studs.
Nova
You will find him east of the giant Godzilla icon in the Central Park. Complete the foot race to unlock him. After unlocking him, you can purchase him for 150,000 studs.
Phoenix
Unlock upon completion of Put up your Dukes bonus hub mission in Story Mode.
Spider Woman
You will find her west of the park on the southern most part of the island.
Squirrel Girl
You will find her on the docks northwest of the Put Up Your Dukes bonus hub mission.
Viper
You will find Viper on the road running through Central Park, on the west side.
Wasp
You will find Wasp one block south of the Oscorp Building.
Professor Xavier
You can unlock him after completing all three of his missions. These missions can be accessed behind the X-Mansion.
Archangel
You will find Archangel south of X-Mansion, to the south of giant billboard.
Colossus
You will find Colossus in the front right courtyard of the X-Mansion.
Gambit
You need to complete three of his missions to unlock him. You can access these missions to the right of the circus tents in Central Park, in front of the X-Mansion and southern part of the Central Park.
Ice Man
You can unlock Ice Man by completing Juggernauts and Crosses in Story Mode.
Jean Grey
You will unlock her after completing the Bifrosty Reception in Story mode.
Polaris
You will unlock Polaris by completing the Trill of the Chess Bonus Hub Mission in Story mode.
Doombot, Green Goblin, Invisible Woman, Nick Fury, and Thing
This stage takes place in Latveria and Doom Castle with Doctor Doom being the notorious king of the house. You need to take him out to unlock the characters mentioned.
AIM Agent and MODOK
MODOK represents this stage as being the deadly boss. Win the boss fight to unlock MODOK and AIM Agent.
Agent Coulson
You can unlock him by completing Tabloid Tidy Up bonus hub mission in story mode.
Maria Hill
You can unlock her by completing her three missions on the helicarrier.
Liberty and Mastermind
Complete the eleventh stage at Statue of Liberty to unlock Liberty and Mastermind.
Mystique and Rhino
You need to complete this Antarctica stage to successfully unlock Mystique and Rhino.
Blob
You will unlock Blob upon completion of Put Up Your Dukes bonus hub mission in Story Mode.
Toad
Complete the three missions he gives in Manhattan Hub to unlock him; Gold Brick top right above the X-Mansion, Wolverine’s Motorcycle on west coast in line with the lake in central park, Toad Icon on Liberty Island. He will still cost you 150,000 studs before you can play him.
Magneto and Magneto Acolyte
Completing thirteenth stage will unlock Magneto and Magneto Acolyte. Along with unlocking Magneto, he also serves as a boss in this stage.
Doctor Doom
Fight off Doombots and the last boss, Doctor Doom to unlock Doctor Doom.
Galactus and Loki
Galactus is unlocked by completing stage 15.
Bruce Banner
Hulk is able to transform into Bruce Banner; or, maybe Bruce Banner is able to transform into Hulk. Anyway, this transformation can be carried out by pressing ‘Y’ on Xbox 360 and Triangle on Playstation 3 version of the game.
Carrying out this transformation 50 times will unlock an Achievement/Trophy – I’m Always Angry.
DLC Characters
