League of Legends’ New Champion Ornn Can Upgrade 8 Items in Total

As previously announced, Ornn features a unique kit of abilities that comprises two brand new gameplay mechanics for League of Legends.

His passive allows him to make purchases from the in-game store from anywhere on the Rift. Secondly, he can use his forging abilities to upgrade items and weapons for his allies to vanquish foes.

Passive: Living Forge & Master Craftsman

Living Forge: Ornn can spend gold to forge items for himself any time he’s out of combat. For convenience, suggested items appear in a special on-screen menu. Ornn can also open the shop manually to build any item.

Master Craftsman: Ornn and his teammates have access to special upgrades for select items in the shop. Each player is limited to one of these upgrades.

Without any further information, the community was left to craft their own theories on how the forging aspect would work. Thankfully, game designer Blake “Squad5” Smith has revealed a few details to help players understand the passive better.

Ornn will be able to upgrade only eight items in League of Legends. This includes Infinity Edge, Trinity Force, Abyssmal Mask, Rabadon’s Deathcap, Black Cleaver, Sunfire Cape, Redemption and Locket of Iron Solari.

Each item can only be upgraded once and players can have only one upgraded item in their inventories. Should a player want another upgraded item, they must sell the first one in order to make space for the second.

Upgrading an item will cost addition gold and result in boosted statistics for the item in question. Support items will cost 500 gold while other items will cost 1000 gold for upgrades. Currently, it is unknown as to how what kind of statistics the items will gain.

Ornn, the Fire Below the Mountain, should be making his way to the Public Beta Environment (PBE) this week for a portion of the League of Legends community to test-drive. We will know more details once he is available for access.
