Kingdom Hearts 2.8 HD 4K Support Has Been Confirmed

During a recent interview with Dengeki PlayStation magazine, Kingdom Hearts 2.8 HD 4K support has been confirmed by Tetsuya Nomura, featuring some informations about Kingdom Hearts III and Final Fantasy VII Remake.

According to Nomura, Kingdom Hearts 2.8 HD Final Chapter Prologue will support PlayStation 4 Pro enhanced features (even if it’s not known if 4K will be native or upscaled), displaying high quality images.

Furthermore Nomura claimed that they don’t know when to release new informations regarding Kingdom Hearts 3 due to Kingdom Hearts 2.8 HD is about to meet its release. Maybe we’ll hear something specific within the next year.

After that, it has been talked about Final Fantasy VII Remake. It seems this game will be action-orientated and since the team is still working on the gameplay, nothing can be shown at this moment. A lot of players has been asking for an ATB system but Square-Enix made a specific choice and nothing can be changed. By the way Nomura assured that this combat system will let both veterans and novices enjoy the game.

However, Tetsuya Nomura released another interview time ago talking specifically of Kingdom Hearts III.

This is what he said about the project.

Kingdom Hearts 3 development is going good. There are new worlds can be explored and I’m very excited about moving Sora around these new spaces.

With our handheld games, we worked a lot with new systems. With 0.2 and 2.8 we’re coming back to the series roots, I guess, but at the same time, Kingdom Hearts 0.2 is kind of a continuation of Birth By Sleep. There’s a lot coming from the previous games, but there’s also a lot of new stuff for players.

Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue is set to release in Japan on January 12, 2017, releasing worldwide on January 24 for PlayStation 4 only.
