Kanye West Lands on Time’s 100 Most Influential People

Time Magazine features people from all over the world, from entertainment, media and politics divided into groups of Icons, Leaders, Artists, Pioneers and Titans; and guess who made it to the list of 100 most influential people, Kanye West – with all his attitude.

This year’s 100 most influential list includes Kanye West, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg and Taylor Swift. Along with Elizabeth Warren, Kim Kardashian, Hillary Clinton, Bradley Cooper, Sarah Koenig, Reese Witherspoon, Jill Soloway, Laverne Cox and Amy Schumer.

The magazine will be available for purchase on Friday with five different collectible covers featuring Kanye West, Jorge Ramos, Misty Copeland, Ruth Bader Ginsberg and Bradley Cooper.

West’s profile is written by Elon Musk, CEO of SpaceX and Tesla Motors, and he calls him the boundary breaker.

Kanye West would be the first person to tell you he belongs on this list. The dude doesn’t believe in false modesty, and he shouldn’t. Kanye’s belief in himself and his incredible tenacity — he performed his first single with his jaw wired shut — got him to where he is today. And he fought for his place in the cultural pantheon with a purpose. In his debut album, over a decade ago, Kanye issued what amounted to a social critique and a call to arms (with a beat): “We rappers is role models: we rap, we don’t think.” But Kanye does think. Constantly. About everything. And he wants everybody else to do the same: to engage, question, push boundaries. Now that he’s a pop-culture juggernaut, he has the platform to achieve just that. He’s not afraid of being judged or ridiculed in the process. Kanye’s been playing the long game all along, and we’re only just beginning to see why.

Kanye, in the interview with Times, talks about his life, the way he learnt music and how his family was his support system. Like Musk puts it, Kanye doesn’t show false modesty, and every time he says the truth out loud it just breaks the internet.

He does not care about being remembered or carrying his legacy he just wants to make life easier for everyone. He classifies himself as ‘Cleanup Crew’.

When West was 7 his mother gifted him a computer because he wanted to make video games, and somewhere in the middle of doing that he learnt how to produce music. His family has always supported him and taught him to step out of the box and fulfill his dreams.
