Intel Whiskey Lake Details Revealed, New CPUs Coming Out In H2 2018

Intel Whiskey Lake series of CPUs will feature 4 CPU cores and 2 graphics cores. Here is what you need to know about the upcoming product.

Intel Whiskey Lake is a codename for upcoming Intel chips that will be replacing Intel Kaby Lake refresh chips. While there is little that we know about these upcoming CPU we are going to tell you all that we currently know about Intel Whiskey Lake and what has been rumored and speculated regarding these processors.

Kaby Lake CPUs featured 2 cores but the refresh features 4 rather than 2 which means additional performance and more multi-threaded performance. These chips are meant for notebooks as are the upcoming Intel Whiskey Lake CPUs. Intel has been the dominating force in the market for some time but much has changed since AMD Ryzen came out and Intel now has to introduce new products in order to keep up.

According to the leak, Intel Whiskey Lake will be coming out in the second half of 2018. What we know from the leak is that Intel Whiskey Lake will feature 6 cores in total, 2 cores will be CPU cores while 2 additional graphics cores will also be present. We also talked about the upcoming Coffee Lake CPUs that will feature Vega graphics.

Intel Whiskey Lake might be coming out in order to compete with AMD Ryzen mobile CPUs. You can expect mass production to start sometime between July 2018 and August 2018. Seeing how the 10nm process has been delayed time and time again it is safe to assume that these upcoming chips will be based on the, now mature, 14nm process.

Seeing how kaby Lake refresh was built using the 14nm+ technology, these upcoming chips will most likely be based on the 14nm++ process. This means that you can expect to see gains of at least 10% while having the same level of power consumption.

Let us know what you think about code name Intel Whiskey Lake and whether or not this is something that you might be interested in.
