HTC Vive Price in the UK is Insane, HTC Should Reconsider

If you thought HTC VIVE costs a little too much in the U.S, you are about to be shocked by its price in United Kingdom. According to the maker, HTC VIVE price in the UK is £689. That is just too much for a VR device.

It is insane when you consider the all-in cost of a VR Ready PC. It is safe to say that Oculus Rift has a much better chance in the market then VIVE.

Meanwhile, we are yet to know about the price of PlayStation VR but if Sony manages to keep it around the same range as Oculus or less, both PSVR and Oculus Rift will have a field day with HTC VIVE.

To run PlayStation VR all you need is a PS4. However, in order to run Rift and HTC VIVE you will need the following specs.

  • Graphics card: Nvidia GeForce GTX 970, AMD Radeon R9 290 equivalent, or greater
  • Processor: Intel i5-4590, AMD FX 8350 equivalent, or greater
  • RAM: 4GB+
  • Video Output: HDMI 1.4, DisplayPort 1.2, or newer
  • USB Port: 1x USB 2.0 or greater port
  • Operating System: Windows 7 SP1 or newer

Oculus Rift

  • Graphics card: NVIDIA GTX 970 / AMD 290 equivalent or greater
  • Processor: Intel i5-4590 equivalent or greater
  • RAM: 8GB+ RAM
  • Video Output: Compatible HDMI 1.3 video output
  • USB Port: 2x USB 3.0 ports
  • Operating System: Windows 7 SP1 or newer

All-in cost makes VIVE a bad deal in my opinion. It would be great if HTC reconsiders the price, don’t you think?
