How to Tweak FOV “Cockpit View” in F1 2010

Few cars in F1 2010 game need adjustment to the Cockpit camera view like Mclaren and Ferrari. It’s perfectly fine if you have been enjoying the game as it is, but if this is something that has been annoying you, you can refer to the guide below to adjust the FOV of your car to your liking.

Note. Back Up Before You Proceed.

F1 2010 Cockpit Camera FOV Tweak

Step 1
Download Binary XML Converter.

You can download Binary XML Converter from here

Step 2
Copy Binary XML files into the cars folder you want to edit. Like an example we use fe0, which is Ferrari. You can find the cars folder in F1 2010 at this location.

E:/Codemasters/F1 2010/cars/fe0

If you have steam version of the game, it is location here.

C:\Program Files (x86)Steam/steamapps/common/f1 2010/cars/fe0

Step 3
Open command prompt and make it read the cars folder where cameras are location in for the specific car you want to change the FOV of. In our case

E:/Codemasters/F1 2010/cars/fe0

Type in cd in command prompt and then copy this complete path into it(cmd, type in cmd in start menu search if you can’t locate command prompt). Right click in command prompt screen to paste it.

If you have the steam version of the game, do the same for it.

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\f1 2010\cars\fe0

and press enter.

Step 4
Now you need to convert cameras.xml file to a readable file. In order to do that, copy and paste the following code in command prompt.

binXML.exe --textxml=cameras.txt.xml cameras.xml

Right click on the command prompt and paste this code.

Press Enter and you should see a cameras.txt file in

E:/Codemasters/F1 2010/cars/fe0

Or if you have steam version, it will be inside:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\f1 2010\cars\fe0

Step 5
Leave command prompt open, as you may need it later. Right click cameras.txt and open in Notepad or Word.

Step 6
In order to adjust FOV for your car, press F3 for search. In search box type “head-cam” and press enter.

Step 7
You will find this code below:

<View type="Head" ident="head-cam" reverseCamera="head-cam_reverse" hidden="false" spectator="false" renderParticlesBeforeGrass="false" transitionType="switch" transitionSpeed="0.0000" transitionStrength="0.0000">

Now move down two lines and you will see:

<Parameter name="fov" type="scalar" value="25.0000" />

Bolded number will be different for you, it’s your Field of view for that car, edit that number to your liking.

Once you have edited the file, save and close.

Step 8
Now you need to convert this file from read only text version back to binary XML file. Go in command prompt again, where it reads:

E:/Codemasters/F1 2010/cars/fe0

Or for steam version of the game:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\f1 2010\cars\fe0

And copy the code below and paste it in command prompt by right clicking in the window like you did before when converted the XML file to a read-only text document.

binXML.exe --binxml=cameras.xml cameras.txt.xml

Press Enter and you are done.
