Hitman: Absolution PC Features Detailed – Adds DirectX11 and Steamworks Support

A somewhat secret meeting occurred during Gamescom today that detailed some of the PC-only features we can look forward to from Agent 47 this October.

It was announced that if you have a DirectX 10 card you’ll be able to enjoy increased texture and gesture resolution, better shadows, sharper visuals and more.

If you have a DirectX 11 card, however, Hitman: Absolution will look even better thanks to the integration of top level visual tricks like bokeh filtering and tessellation into IO’s Glacier 2 engine.

On top of all that fanciness, it was also revealed that the game will have Steamworks support, meaning you’ll be able to upload your saves to the cloud and resume a campaign on any PC!

IO Interactive’s Jonas Meyer headed up the secretive presentation saying that IO “wants the game to look as awesome as possible” and promises that “Agent 47’s suit looks ten times more awesome on PC.”   He continues by explaining what this press conference means.

The idea of a secret press briefing dedicated to the monstrous power of the PC is testament to the current state of the console generation, whether you understand, or care, about anti aliasing levels it’s good to know that Eidos is planning on pushing the PC’s power.
