Devil May Cry 5 release date is quite close which is set to be playable by the end of this month. Director of DMC 5, Hideaki Itsuno had a statement for people that are new to the series. Bearing a logic in mind that most of us should have in the community honestly.

This is pretty important for some gamers that needed to hear this. The toxicity we tend to see in sports has transcended into video gaming as well.

Yes, I’m addressing the “git gud” logic we see for anyone even remotely bad at a game. Now bear in mind, when I say bad, I’m not talking Dean Takahashi playing Cuphead bad.

I mean like not being able to down a boss fight in 1 or 2 tries. Devil May Cry 5 like its predecessors emphasizes on being stylish throughout your gameplay.

This means chaining fancy combos left and right to score higher ranks basically. Not everybody can do that as well as a DMC series veteran. This can lead to frustration if it builds up too much, hence why lower difficulties in games are present.

Now the literal director of Devil May Cry 5, Hideaki Itsuno is saying don’t worry about playing on easy if you’re a new player. DMC 5 isn’t the first game to use assisted modes either.

Resident Evil 2 remake uses it, even Guilty Gear had a stylish control setting for those that aren’t good at memorizing the combos yet.

Also just as a side note, instead of telling someone to git gud, maybe you can actually help them out with useful guides. You can then end said guide with a more friendly “git gud” instead.

If your friend is struggling to beat the Abyss Watchers of Dark Souls 3 on their first try. It’ll help more to tell them that the red-eyed watcher actually helps in the fight. That would help them get through the boss, rather than just hitting them with a git gud.

Besides this assurance, Itsuno also requested that we don’t spoil the game for those who haven’t played it.
