Mafia 3 Developers Hangar 13 Expand Their Future Horizons, A New Branch In UK

Hangar 13 with its parent company, has recently announced that they are adding a new branch to their family of existing studios.

Well, this is interesting, a few months back, a change took place in the office of the developers of Mafia 3, Hangar 13. The company laid off a lot of its employees, according to them there was a need for staff reduction in order to ensure that the studio resources were properly aligned with its long-term development plans.

If this news is not wrong, then this new studio branch in the UK might have had something to do with the layoffs.

The new branch will be opening in Brighton, United Kingdom which shall work alongside the teams in Novato and the Czech Republic.

This new branch will be headed by Nick Baynes, a former game director on Split/Second at Black Rock Studio. Baynes has years of development history which he will be bringing to the studio. Brighton has been Nick’s home for over 17 years.

When Hangar 13 made the announcement, alongside its parent company 2K, Haden Blackman, global studio head of Hangar 13 said; “We’re incredibly excited to welcome Nick and the Brighton team into our growing Hangar 13 family”.

Furthermore talking about the new office he added that this “new office will allow the studio to tap into the rich game development talent pool throughout the United Kingdom and Europe.” Furthermore, this will help “lead to better and more diverse games that resonate with the widest possible audience”

Hangar 13 also said that the “UK has some of the most talented game developers in the world.” With all that said, the general manager of Hangar 13 office in Brighton also added that they are seeking experienced game developers, passionate to join this AAA studio. So if anyone is interested they certainly can contact the studio.

Having said that, what are your thoughts on this new expansion?  And what are your expectations from the studio? Let us know in the comments below.
