Halo 5 Guardians Vehicles

There are a plenty of vehicles to choose from in Halo 5: Guardians. Each of the vehicles featured in the game has unique specialties and stats which make them ideal to use in different tactical situations.

This guide provides an overview of all the vehicles in Halo 5 and how to best use them:

Similar to weapons, vehicles in Halo 5 are tied to Req Cards. However, do note that you must meet the ‘Req Level’ requirement before spawning a vehicle. This section details all vehicles and how to use them effectively:

Crew: 1 Operator
Faction: Covenant

Due to its firepower, Banshee is perfect against strong enemies and bosses. This vehicle should ideally be used against groups of enemies and other vehicles.

This vehicle also has a shield system which allows it to absorb incoming damage, but ensure to fly away from the threat as soon as possible.

In case Banshee is constantly receiving damage, you should only consider jumping out if you see it on fire – smoke popping out of the vehicle is fine.

Req Cards

  • Banshee
  • Sword Banshee
  • Banshee Ultra

Crew: 1 Operator
Faction: Covenant

The idea way of using Ghost is to strafe enemies and continually moving and shooting the enemy targets.

Due to its high maneuverability, Ghost is extremely hard to target. However, do note that while in Ghost, you are completely open to fire and enemies can easily hijack the vehicle.

Therefore, you need to make sure that you are constantly on the run.

Req Cards

  • Ghost
  • Sword Ghost
  • Ghost Ultra

Crew: 1 Operator
Faction: UNSC

Mantis’ HMG can easily tear through enemy units and light armored vehicles. The launcher, on the other hand, can lock onto aerial vehicles and eliminate them in an instant.

One of the downside of using Mantis is slow speed which is why you should avoid getting flanked by enemies. The idea is to use it from a safe distance and not get flanked by enemies from any direction.

If you meet an enemy head-on, you should consider eliminating them with a melee attack instead of relying on your firepower. Finally, note that Mantis also has a shield system, but does not absorb as much damage as Banshee.

Req Cards

  • Mantis
  • Corp Mantis
  • Urban Mantis
  • ONI Mantis

Crew: 1 Operator, 1 Passenger
Faction: UNSC

The grenades on this vehicle are perfect to engage Spartans, but you should not expect to head-on-head with other vehicles. This vehicle is basically one of the means to move about the map.

Since you are completely exposed in a Mongoose, you should rely on its speed to get away from open engagements. The passenger on the back of the vehicle is free to use any weapon which can overcome its weaknesses.

Also note that while the passengers are completely exposed, the vehicle itself is capable of sustaining high amount of damage. Finally, note that the passenger on the vehicle has access to unlimited Fragmentation Grenades.

Req Cards

  • Mongoose
  • Corp Mongoose
  • Urban Mongoose
  • ONI Mongoose

Crew: 1 Operator
Faction: Forerunner

The sheer firepower on this vehicle allows you to deal heavy damage to enemies and bosses. You should rely on the vehicle’s Translocation Ability to evade enemy attacks and move to a new location when in danger.

Considering the amount of damage that this vehicle is capable of dishing out, you should not leave it until the very last moment and not even that if you could live with one death.

Req Cards

  • Phaeton

Crew: 1 Operator, 1 Gunner
Faction: UNSC

The Scorpion is ideal to defend your base by keeping the attackers at an arm’s length. Also bear in mind that this vehicle is extremely sluggish which is why you should only engage enemies from a safe distance.

Lastly, do note that the gunner inside the Scorpion is extremely exposed so be on your toes at all times.

Req Cards

  • Scorpion
  • Corp Scorpion
  • Urban Scorpion
  • ONI Scorpion

Crew: 1 Operator, 1 Passenger, and 1 Gunner
Faction: UNSC

You can not only hop in a couple of teammates with you in this vehicle, but also use its immense firepower to tear down enemies and bosses alike. However, do not give in the temptation and try to tackle enemies head-on.

Bear in mind that enemies can easily hijack the vehicle and chuck you out. One player in the vehicle should have a homing weapon which will allow you to dish out heavy damage at lightning fast pace.

Req Cards

  • Warthog
  • Corp Warthog
  • Urban Warthog
  • ONI Warthog
  • Corp Scout Warthog
  • Urban Scout Warthog

Also note that this vehicle is capable of absorbing high amount of damage, but be prepared to leave as soon as you see purple smoke rising from the vehicle.

  • Sword Wraith
  • Wraith Ultra
