Guillermo del Toro Talks About Silent Hills Cancellation

Hideo Kojima and Konami’s dispute has been one of the most discussed topic in gaming industry over the past year. The dispute not only affected the well under development Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain but also had a huge impact on another upcoming game, Silent Hills.

Originally released as a demo by the name of P.T, Silent Hills had everyone excited ever since its reveal at E3 2014 and not just because of Kojima. The game had one of Hollywood’s acclaimed director, Guillermo del Toro attached to it as well as The Walking Dead’s Norman Reedus as the protagonist.

In an interview with Bloody Disgusting, del Toro finally talked about how he felt when the game was cancelled.

According to him, everything was going great; there were some great stories lined up to be included and hundreds of designs which were similar to many other successful games such as The Last of Us.

In the eyes of del Toro, this sudden cancellation of such an amazing work makes absolutely no sense and is completely random. This isn’t the first video game project that Guillermo del Toro has worked on and was cancelled.

He was previously attached to a Halo game as well which was also cancelled. All this could lead to him being disheartened at the prospect of video game-movie merger and he might never attempt to create something in the gaming industry again.

Enjoys all sorts of games except those made by Nintendo. Trying to stay up to date with all games, entertainment media and memes.
