Guild Wars 9th Anniversary Celebrations Kick Off 3 Weeks Early

Due to a typo, Guild Wars Ninth Anniversary Celebrations kick off 3 weeks earlier than scheduled.

Sometimes, mistakes on the part of developers bring forth great joys for the players. Why do I say this? Developers behind popular MMORPG Guild Wars were planning on kicking off their ninth anniversary celebrations on April 22, 2014 but due to a typo made by someone, the celebrations had to start early i.e. on April 2, 2014.

The issue was brought to the attention of Guild Wars Programmer Joe Kimmes who confirmed that it was indeed a typo as the official celebration were to scheduled to initiate on April 22.

Later on, Kimmes stated that players can get benefits from the early celebrations.

Looks like the internal schedule had a typo of 2 instead of 22. I’m checking with people to find out if I should turn it off until the intended date, but for now feel free to enjoy the early birthday celebration!

The plan is to fix the anniversary start date for next year and let players get the benefits of the mistake this year. Enjoy the extended birthday celebration!

As a part of the birthday celebrations, the players will be able to get free birthday cupcakes until April 29. ArenaNet has also opened up the Dragon Arena and Rollerbeetle Races.

In addition to this, players will also meet new NPCs and carry out exciting events. Fireworks will be set in the air, and player will be able to witness them from the Great Temple of Balthazar, Lion’s Arch, Shing Jea Monastery, and Kamadan.

The celebrations are now in progress and are said to last until April 29. You still have 10 more days to get unique loot, witness fireworks, and take part in the celebrations.
