Is a Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories Mobile Version Being Made by War Drum?

Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories mobile version could be in the making by War Drum Studios, the same devs who made previous mobile port-ins of the game.

We have picked up a rumor that a Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories mobile version could be in the making. The name of Gainesville based developer War Drum also popped up in relation to the same game.

If the news is true, this could be the fourth mobile version of a GTA game since the series started. War Drum Studios is the same developer who ported Grand Theft Auto 3, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas to mobile.

According to the rumor, an insider has revealed that Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories mobile version is currently in development for iOS and Android and that it will be out by fall 2014.

Certain improvements would also be made to the original game including enhanced models, textures and cloud support. Furthermore, players will also be able to add custom radio stations.

The source didn’t manage to deliver any hardware requirements saying that “it’s still too early to be that specific.”

Overall, Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories was the ninth game in the series though two of the games prior to it were regarded as spin-offs.

Released back in 2005, Liberty City Stories had received generally impressive ratings from most of the critics with metacritic marking it 88 for PSP and 78 for PS2. The game sold over 8 million copies.

The Liberty City Stories revolved around Toni Cipriani who was introduced in GTA 3 as the Don’s Capo. To be honest, this could be anything. Take it with a grain of salt until Rockstar Games or War Drum Studios approve the story.
